Gathering of Native Americans (GONA)

| SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2016 |

GONA Flyer June 2016Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) is a community event that provides culturally specific substance abuse prevention information eliciting community healing through topics of historical and cultural trauma experienced over generations. This curriculum was created in partnership with intertribal traditionalist, elders and SAMHSA prevention scientists to empower indigenous communities to apply their ancient wisdom to current community health concerns. Different presenters will guide participants through a series of games and activities teaching the 4 stages of wellness found on the medicine wheel.

The Urban Indian Coalition is excited to offer this one day training to Maricopa County families at no cost. The diverse backgrounds of the participants, from behavioral health professionals, youth groups to elders, enrich the dialog and make each GONA truly one of a kind. The hands on activities are great for any age to keep youth engaged throughout the day. Lunch, refreshments and childcare are provided.

We hope that you will join us on Saturday June 4th from 10am to 3pm, for our next GONA Workshop. This event will be held at the Halle Heart Museum, 2929 S 48th St, Tempe, AZ 85282.
